I remember seeing the Statue of Liberty on my way to school each day. No, it was not the one in the harbor. This one appeared on top of a building at 64th Street and Broadway. She adorned the top of the eight stories Liberty Warehouse for over 100 years. Standing at 37 feet, I watched her appearance change in all types of weather but there she stood ; tall and majestic. Gradually she became surrounded by high-rises and in 2002, was evicted, for the land she stood on was too valuable to remain rent free.

I had often wondered what became of her demise because of the ever changing New York and its need to build. Much to my delight the "little" Lady Liberty found a new home by being a part of the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum.
